My Style Diary - 24

Hello hello! :)

It feels like a long time since I sat down to write a post, but I'm glad to finally be getting the chance! It's been a fun but tiring week, (I've been battling a rather annoying cold), so I'm really grateful for the long weekend and this extra day off! I'm planning on having a very chilled out day today just relaxing and getting things done. I might be weird, but for some reason I actually find doing all the laundry and ironing to be quite relaxing... yes I'm a little odd... but there must be someone else who agrees with me?? hehe...

Anyway...

This Thursday was my 24th birthday, and I can't quite believe another year has already passed. 24 seems to be a strange age... in some ways I feel really old, but in others I just don't feel mature enough to be in my "mid-twenties" (as Tom put it)
Regardless, I had a great day, filled with lovely things, like being surprised by a gorgeous bunch of flowers when I got to work, lunch with my Mum, and then picking Tom up from the airport and having a relaxing night, mostly spent watching How I Met Your Mother (one of our favourite shows)

My outfit for the day was my typical basic black work wear with a splash of colour from this gorgeous floral scarf (which I stole from my Mum). Nothing fancy, but I like it nonetheless.

I also just wanted to briefly mention something non-fashion related -
This weekend, I had a great time helping out my friend Sheena, who premiered her documentary, The Humanitarian Engineer at the State Library Theatre on Saturday night.
Sheena's an engineer who (with zero film-making experience), researched, filmed, edited and produced this documentary which  "celebrates engineering, its diversity and its power to enrich the human condition".
If you're interested in finding out more about it you can check out her website here. I wanted to mention it because I think it's just such an amazing achievement, and even though I'm not an engineer, I found it to be a very interesting and thought-provoking film.

That's it for today! I hope you're all doing well! :)

My Style Diary - Daisy Chains

Hellooo :)

I have to dash out the door in about 10 minutes to do the weekly airport pick-up (I'm slowly getting used to this fly-in fly-out business my boyfriend has gotten us into), but I thought I'd quickly share this outfit with you from Mother's day a couple of weekends ago.
This dress has gotten so much wear since I picked it up and has transitioned so easily from a simple, easy-to-throw-on summer dress to a perfect layering piece for the cooler months :)
Another piece that's gotten it's fair share of love lately is this necklace which has become one of my favourites. While I've been wanting to jump on the statement necklace bandwagon for a while, for some reason it never quite feels like "me", so for the moment this is my more subtle take on the trend.

Anyway, I better get going. I hope you're having a fab Thursday night!

My Style Diary - Time to Layer

Heya :)

I don't really have a lot to say today, but I thought I'd share these pictures from last weekend.
I wear this jumper/jacket so often this time of year and love that it has the look of a jacket but the comfort of a soft, cozy jumper. A perfect piece for when you want to look presentable, but really can't be bothered with anything too fussy!

I hope you're having a lovely Sunday!

April in Pictures

Although we're now well into May, I still wanted to share some of my Instagram pics for the month of April. Looking back, it was a really fun month :)
The highlights included going to Michael Buble's concert (he was seriously so amazing!) and the morning spent with my Nonna and Nonno making authentic Italian tomato sauce.
I hadn't had the chance to join them for quite a few years so it was fun being able to help out (as well as a good way to learn all the tips and tricks!)

Some other things I did this month included -  enjoying many lovely walks around the neighbourhood (the weather in April is just so beautiful), trying out some new recipes such as these "healthy" crepes (I eliminated the healthiness by smothering them in maple syrup), drinking a lot of tea, and eating far too much chocolate!

Anyway, I hope you had a good month of April and are looking forward to (what remains of) May! I definitely am :)
